Multi-Environment Testing (MET) is a collaborative project of International Rice Research Institute (IRRI) and Philippine Rice Research Institute (PhilRice) to establish a systematic, sequential, multistage and multi-environment testing (MET) system for elite breeding lines, managed through one entity, in order to improve overall breeding efficiency. The MET 1 trial is the first stage of testing, consisted of 600 test entries and 5 checks. MET 2 trial is the second stage of testing selected promising lines from MET Stage 1 which consisted of 140 test entries and 5 checks. It was conducted using a Row-Column design with two replications and two modules, based on the flowering time of entries Module 1 for very early/early and Module 2 for medium/late. Among the test entries, PR 4-2-24, Elite39 and HHZ5-DT20-DT3-Y2 were the top three entries during dry season 2012 in MET 1 - Module 1 with 8.11, 8.01 and 7.92 t/ha yield respectively. For Module 2, top three entries include IR 10C 112 (8.67 t/ha), IR 10N 278 (8.06 t/ha) and 12 DS-GMET-22 (7.94 t/ha). Meanwhile, the top three entries in MET 2 - Module 1 were IR06N119, IR10F388 and HHZ 1-Y4-Y1 with an average yield of 7.43, 7.34 and 7.21 t/ha, respectively. For Module 2, top three entries include PR 377 04-2B-6-1-2-1-1 (7.10 t/ha), PR 36831-31-1-1-1-1-1 (7.07 t/ha) and PR 37921-B-3-4-2-1-2 (7.0 t/ha). During the wet season 2012, POS 14 (7.45 t/ha), HHZ 2-Y3-Y1 (Y.28 t/ha) and IR08L216 (7.22 t/ha) ranked the top three in MET - Module 1 while PR38012-3B-1-3 SP (7.7 t/ha), IR03A550 (7.48 t/ha) and IR09L336 (7.38 t/ha) landed the top three in Module 2. The top three entries in MET 2 - Module 1 include TME 80518, ZH1 and PR40083-1B-3-2 with an average yield of 7.95, 7.70 and 7.68 t/ha respectively. For Module 2, top three entries were IR 10N225 (7.75 t/ha), IR 09N142 (7.75 t/ha) and PR 37246-2-3-2-1-1-2-1 (7.61 t/ha.).
