It was established that arrowleaf clover and black medick are annual legume crops with potential for cultivation in temporary swards under the conditions of Northern Bulgaria. Arrowleaf clover is characterized by high summer productivity of green mass and dry matter (17 930 and 5820 kg/ha), as the forage from it is distinguished with balanced basic chemical composition, high content of hemicellulose (8.23%), low degree of lignification (3.44% ADL) and very high digestibility (77.82%). Black medick is suitable for use as component of pasture mixtures because it forms sward with high density, has ability of regrowing and high values of the leaf stem ratio (1.22). Dry matter of this speciaes is with the highest of potential protein feeding value (165.3 g/kg DM).
