Combined with the features of southern double cropping rice area, the paper summarizes the current situation of the development of the mechanization of rice production in the double cropping rice area in South China from the aspects of tillage machinery, planting machinery and harvesting machinery. And at the same time the limiting factors in the development including the topographic condition, the imperfect combination of agricultural machinery and agronomic technology, the power consumption, and product performance, etc are analyzed. And some corresponding solution measures are put forward.
