The evaluation of canola genotypes reaction to planting date on northern Khouzestan condition

In order to study the effects of planting date on yield of Canola genotypes, an experiment was conducted at Agricultural research Center of Safiabad during (2005-2007). The design was a split plot in a completely randomized block bases with 4 replications. Main plots were consisted of 3 levels of planting date (November 1, November 16 and December 1) and subplots of 7 Canola genotypes (Hyola60, Hyola308, Hyola330, Hyola401, Hyola420, RGS003 and Option500). Results showed that delaying in planting date lead to reduction of grain yield, biological yield, oil yield, number of pods in plant and number of kernel per pod. In two years, the highest (3352.3 kg/ha) and the lowest (2602.84 kg/ha) grain yield belonged to November 1 and December 1. Difference between genotypes was significant. The highest (3537.13 kg/ha) and the lowest (2388.72 kg/ha) grain yield belonged to Hyola420 and Option500. Reduction in yield for these Canola genotypes were considered to be related reduction of growing length period, flowering length period and coincidence of flowering and ripening of pods and seed growth stages with higher temperatures prevailing at later planting date.
