One of the important sources of water supply in Iran is groundwater. Due to the ongoing drought, optimum utilization of water resources, particularly groundwater is necessary. One of the ways to avoid a negative balance is management and planning for the optimal utilization of groundwater with artificial recharge and watershed management operation that not only controls the water level of plains but also it can further be. Although stopping the negative balance procedure completely is not possible to natural conditions. Nevertheless, its inhibition in integrated water resources management plans is an urgent requirement. This will enable the managers of water resources that of various combinations of water resources (groundwater, surface water), the optimal choice should be selected so that, in addition to reducing the negative balance, it can lead to recharge the groundwater. This study was done in Ramhormoz plain of Khuzestan province to achieve the different potential of water resources with proper management and optimum use of water. The results showed that based on unit hydrograph, the water level generally has a decline, or water level drops in a 7-year period. Therefore, the Aquifer of Ramhormoz plain has dropped 2.66 meters from December 2002 to December 2009. The annual mean loss is equal to 38 centimeters. Generally, in unit hydrograph period, (December 81 to January 89) water level drop is equal to the 1.46 meters. Decreasing the rainfall and increasing the utilization (increasing the well number and abstraction) from groundwater caused to reduce the water level. According to the balance calculations, the Ramhormoz unconfined aquifer is encountered to reduce the volume of store. So that according to amount of inputs and outputs, the storage changes is -7.33 million cubic meters. Total output and input volume to the Ramhormoz aquifer are 37/16 and 44/49 million cubic meters, respectively. Measured storage volume changes by unit hydrograph according to the coefficient storage and aquifer area were estimated -8/68 million cubic meters that they are confirming the balance calculations.
