Complementary assessment on imported cotton genotypes

That Varieties are imported from abroad, all traits are evaluated. These traits can be used in breeding programs for transfer superior traits to commercially available variety with high yield or hybrids suitable for mechanized harvest. The goal of this project was assess superior genotypes by using from variation in the imported variety of cotton. In this paper assessment of quantitative and qualitative characteristics of superior genotypes imported in a randomized complete block experimental design in 2011-2012 at Hashem-Abad research station in Gorgan. Morphological traits and yield components including: a number of fruitful plant, germination percentage, plant height, number and length of the longest branch of monopodial and fifth sympodial branch, boll number, boll weight, the first cutting, seed cotton yield, earliness and fiber quality traits were measured. Recorded data were analyzed using Excel and Mstatc software. The results showed that 5 and 10 treatments in the number of boll per plant than other treatments were superior, but this superiority was not statistically significant. Also, comparison of single boll weight showed that treatment to number 14, products the highest boll weight with 6.19 gr. In addition, treatments number of 5 and 13 with seed cotton yield of 3248 kg/ha were better than others. However, the fibers quality of the treatments 4 and 14, were superior, compared to the other treatments and control treatments.
