This experiment was carried out to optimize the ensiling method of seaweed of the Bushehr province and to determine the nutritive value of their silage in native sheep nutrition. Two predominant seaweed in the Bushehr coast (Gracilaria and Sargassum) were ensiled with wheat straw and waste date palm. After a month, DM, CP, Ash, ammonia, pH and total VFA were determined in silage samples. The result showed that pH means were relatively high, 5.72 and 5.23 for Sargassum and Gracilaria, respectively. Therefore the method was shifted to processing with various levels of urea (1,2,3 and 4 percent) different period of time (1, 2 and 3 months). At the end of period CP% and visual characteristics and mold pollution were determined. Gracilaria treated with 4% urea contained 17.84% CP and was evaluated as the best treatment. The means of digestibilities percentage of DM, OM, EE, GE, NDF and ADF were: 68.86, 50.6, 30.98, 49.96, 40 21.75 respectively for Gracilaria with 4% urea within one month of preserving. It can be concluded that Gracilaria treated with urea was suitable in animal nutrition. Key words: seaweed , Gracilaria, Sargassum, nutritive value, Bushehr province
