Effect of Bentonite absorbent in litter on broiler performance, pH and Ammonia nitrogen litter.

This experiment was conducted in order to reduce ammonia emissions. The main compound of adsorbent was bentonite. Acidified bentonite was uniformly distributed in amounts of 500, 750 and 1000 grams per square meter (m2) of chopped wood litter. At the beginning of the first week of adding 0, 100, 150 and 200 gr at the beginning of the third week 0, 200, 300 and 400 gr and fifth weeks 0, 200, 300 and 400 gr were distributed per m2. Main factors affecting the emission of gases in the atmosphere, including temperature, humidity, and ventilation capacity in all treatments was applied consistently. Since litter pH is effective on activity urease producing bacteria, pH absorbent was studied in the laboratory. The experimental design was completely randomized with four treatments, four replications per experimental unit consisted of a total of 20 chicks that were performed on 320 broiler chicks. Samples of bed on days 14, 28, 42 were performed. Daily weight gain, feed intake, feed conversion, mortality and carcass quality of breast muscle (burns and blisters from moisture and ammonia) were studied. Statistical analysis using SAS with GLM procedure and Duncan's mean comparison test was performed. Results showed that Ammonia emissions were affected by the treatments so residual nitrogen litter that containing Bentonite (100 gr per square meter) 6.23 percent increased (P 0.05). Bentonite afforded to reduce ammonia emissions. In this experiment, due to the impossibility of separating treatments of experimental plants the effect of treatments on production was not detected.
