Prudnikov, V.A., National Academy of Sciences. Scientific and Practical Center for Arable Farming (Belarus). Institute of Flax
In the conditions of the Republic of Belarus there was determined the influence of the main elements of soil fertility on yielding capacity of long fiber flax (Linum usitatissimum) and quality indexes of flax products on the basis of existing parameters of soil fertility in a long term stationary experiment. The results of field experiments of the effect of humus, phosphorus and potassium on yield of flax are presented. It was found that when sowing flax on average loam with humus content of 2.07%, moving phosphate and potassium 180 and 123 mg/kg without the use of mineral fertilizers fiber yield was 21.3, including a long 18.7 kg/ha. The increase in humus content to 2.18%, moving phosphates up to 210 and potassium to 148 mg/kg reduced the fiber content in the rotted straw and its yielding capacity.
