Floristic composition characteristics with the emphasis on medicinal plants on chosen grassland and meadows near Slovenská Ľupča-village

The work presents the results of a survey of selected grassland communities in Slovenská Ľupča-village. The work presents the habitat characteristics of the site in terms of natural conditions, the current management and species composition. Floristic survey was conducted in 2011 during the vegetation season, from April to August. We recorded in total 101 taxons of vascular plants in the area 10 ha, 21 species of grass, 11 species of clovers, and 70 species of herbs. The sum of medicinal plants in the whole area was 64 species (63%). The overall index of biodiversity was average 2.9, which means low to medium value of biodiversity. In conclusion, we recommend using regular management to maintain grasslands and meadows vegetation, which has a significantly positive impact on biodiversity of grasslands and pastures, but also the occurrence of medicinal plants within them.
