The authors describe the applicability of biogas for the production of electric and thermal power and its application in the gas networks and as a vehicle fuel. The technologies for biogas production and cleaning applied in biogas plants all over the world and the negative aspects of biogas production are also presented here. The paper provides information allowing the estimation of the opportunity of building, biogas plants and the application of biogas, with special attention to the technical, economic and legal aspects.
