THE STUDY OF QUANTITATIVE TRAITS VARIABILITY OF SOYBEAN VEGETABLE AND GRAIN FORMS IN A CENTRAL PART OF THE NON-CHERNOZEM ZONE

The study of quantitative traits variability plays an important role in selection work of soybean. The limits of variability are associated with the environmental influence and hereditary characteristics of the soybean varieties or lines. Variation characteristics of yield structure elements were studied on variety samples representing soybean vegetable and grain forms of Russian and foreign breeding of very early and early maturity groups in the conditions of the central part of the Non-chernozem zone (55◦N) in 2015-2016. We introduced into the study the coefficient of oscillation (Vr) to determine the extreme values of source material populations, it is an important selection evaluation feature of the best and worst samples. We determined the variability of the following indicators: plant height, height of attachment of the lower bean, number of branches per plant, number of beans per plant, number of productive nodes, average number of beans in a node, number of seeds per plant, average number of seeds in a bean, weight of seeds per plant, weight of 1000 seeds. We identified different intensities of their variations, features by years. Soybean vegetable and grain forms showed low variability of some yield structure elements: average number of beans in a node, average number of seeds in a bean, also the weight of 1000 seeds, the defining sign for the vegetable soybean. We found significant differences in the average length of the plant, soybean productivity indices among vegetable and grain samples: number of beans, number of seeds per plant, average number of seeds in a bean, weight of 1000 seeds, seed weight per plant. It is important to consider at making the new soybean selection vegetable lines
