Study the relationship between inoculum threshold of peanut seed-borne pathogen (aspergillus niger) with the development of collar rot disease and efficacy of some seed treatment methods

An experimaent was conducted to find out the relationship between inoculums threshold of peanut seed-bonre pathogen (Aspergillus niger) with the development of collar rot disease and efficacy of some seed treatment methods. Seed was treated by Carban 50SC (Cacbendazim). Garlic oil was prepared in water at the concentration of 1:3. Seeds of peanut were treated with the suspention for 15 minutes. Seeds under control were trated with plain water. Nine fungal pathogens, namely Aspergillus flavus, Aspergillus niger, Mycosphaerella berkeleyi, Rhizopus spp., Puccinia arachidis, Fusarium spp., Macrophomina phaseolina, Sclerotium rolfsii, and Rhizoctonia solani were found to be associated with the peanut seeds. In which, Aspergillus flavus, Aspergillus niger, Puccinia arachidis and Rhizoctonia solani were main pathogens their infecti0n ranged from 21.1 to 31.5%; 4 - 55.2%; 3.1- 20.8% and l.8 - 22%. The rate of pea nut seed germination was declining the rate of seed rot and collar rot disease were increasing if the inoculums threshold infection over 5%. Seed treatment with garlic oil proved the most effective (germination rate reached 80%, the seed rot was only 13% and collar rot disease only 19% at inoculum threshold 0% and 5 % infection) followed by combination Carban 50SC.
