Comment on Primary lymphocyte infection models for KSHV and its putative tumorigenesis mechanisms in B cell lymphomas (Journal of Microbiology 2017, 55(5): 319-329)

We read with interest the review on primary lymphocyte models for Kaposi's sarcoma associated herpesvirus (KSHV; also known as human herpesvirus 8) infection recently published by Journal of Microbiology (Kang and Myoung, 2017). We agree with the authors that the interaction of KSHV with B lymphocytes is an important and incompletely elucidated factor in the pathogenesis and oncogenicity of this herpesvirus infection. We are concerned, however, that the review omits or misinterprets important points made in publications from our laboratory (Rappocciolo et al., 2008; Knowlton et al., 2014).
