Importance and growing areas of winter wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) have been increasing. Lately, different innovations for winter wheat growing agrotechnics have become topical. There is a tendency to simplify cultivation process by using minimal tillage and reducing plant rotation seeding winter wheat repeatedly for a long time instead. This research will help to understand whether this kind of agrotechnical measures are able to affect the yield of winter wheat. Field experiments were carried out at the Study and Research Farm ”Peterlauki” of the Latvia University of Agriculture in the period of 2014/2015 and 2015/2016. Winter wheat cultivar ‘Zentos’ was studied. Grain quality indicators were studied depending on two factors: forecrop (repeated sowing of wheat, summer rape and field beans) and a tillage method (traditional plowing, which includes inversion of the top layer of soil and minimal tillage). The grain analysis showed that quality indicators were very different. The quality was affected not only by the studied factors, but also by heavy rains with wind gusts; some fields of the experiment suffered from lodging. It reduced the overall quality and objectivity of the results. During the summary of the results it was found out that grain quality in both years was affected more by forecrop; wheat grown after field beans had higher protein and gluten content as well as Zeleny index.
