Many new strawberry cultivars have been imported into Latvia during the last years. It is necessary to evaluate the adaptability of these cultivars to local conditions. The aim of this research was to evaluate new short day strawberry cultivars from the Netherlands in Latvia’s conditions. The research was conducted at Pūre, Tukums region, during 2015-2016. Cultivars ‘Flair’, ‘Fleurette’, ‘Felicita’, ‘Filicia’, ‘Susette’ and ‘Honeoye’ as control samples were included in the investigation. Cold stored A+ grade plants imported from the Netherlands were planted on the flat field in rows with planting density 3.3 plant m-2 . 20 cm wide matted rows were developed. Plant phenological development, winter hardiness, yield, fruit quality and susceptibility to pests and diseases were evaluated. According to two-year results, cultivar ‘Flair’ was the best option between evaluated cultivars. It was characterized by early production time, similar productivity to ‘Honeoye’, good fruit quality and resistance to leaf diseases and strawberry blossom weevil. ‘Felicita’ and ‘Fleurette’ also could be used for growing in Latvia’s conditions. However, more investigations are necessary on cultivar winter hardiness.
