In sheep farming, breeding of local sheep breed ewes with meat type breed rams are widely used. Crossbreeding improves lamb daily weight gain, feed conversion and carcass quality. The aim of the study was to determine the precocity of crossbreed lambs under intensive feeding conditions. Latvia Darkhead (LD) × Suffolk, LD × Texel and LD × German Merino local crossbreeds lambs were used in the study. The results show that LD × German Merino local crossbreed lambs had the shortest fattening period (only 58 days), the greatest body mass daily gain (392.3 g dE-1) and weight before slaughtering 49.6 kg. In this study LD × Suffolk crossbreed lambs had longer fattening period (72 days) and lower daily weight gain (336.9 g dE-1) under intensive feeding condition.
