Sadaf, F.
Herbicides effects on the yield of any crop cannot be denied. Maize (Zea mays L.) has a major roll as food crop. It is the third major crop in all over the world after wheat and rice. Weeds majorly effected the growth and yield of maize (Z. mays L.). To check the effects of different herbicides on maize experiment was conducted. Maize plants were grown in "Ayyub Agriculture research station Faisalabad". After germination of maize (Z. mays L.) plants different herbicides were applied and sample were collected and preserved in alcohol. The effects of herbicide on maize plant leaf anatomy were studied in the laboratory. Results were recorded after making permanent slides of leaf anatomy and examined under microscope. Results were analyzed under completely randomized design (CRD). Different maize leaf anatomical parameter were studied like mesophyll thickness, cortical cell thickness, adaxial and abaxial epidem1is, area of midrib, xylem, phloem, leaf blade thickness etc. By analyzing results conclusion was that herbicides have positive effects on maize leaf anatomy and considered best for controlling weed infestation.
