Phytosanitary Administration as a national body within the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management of the Republic of Macedonia was established in 2000. Policy of Administration regulates the use of three laws: the Law on Plant Health, Law on Plant Protection Products and the Law on fertilizers. Many parts of the law are in accordance with the standards and measures of the EU. Objectives of phytosanitary regulations are to protect plants and plant products, preventing the spread of harmful organisms, controlling the sale and use of plant protection products, protection of human health and the environment of animals. Harmonizing principles of phytosanitary measures with the EU and international regulations and standards is to achieve optimal and competitive production and elimination of technical barriers to international trade in agricultural and forest products. This year we have started preparing a commissions were would by established to finally agree to the Plant Protection Act with European laws. Special attention was paid to the new regulations on plant protecting equipment.
