The paper analyses the changes on the international chicken market. This type of meat is studied because it dominates the world meat trade, with a share of 43%. The study determines the greatest exporters and importers of chicken, as well as their participation on the international market. The time frame of the research was the period 2010-2014. The average world export of chicken was 14.5 million tons, with a tendency of moderate growth at a rate of 3.37% annually. The greatest world exporter is the United States with the average export of 3.7 million tons, which accounts for 26% of the total exports. Other great exporters are Brazil, the Netherlands, Poland and Hong Kong (China), which provide two-thirds of the total world export. The greatest world importer is Hong Kong (China), with over one million tons, which accounts for 8% of the world import. Great importers are also Mexico, Saudi Arabia, the Netherlands and Germany, making up almost a third of the world import. Brazil and the Russian Federation are losing their dominant positions of the greatest world exporter and importer, respectively. The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) predicts that in 2024 this export will reach 16.2 million tons, while the growth rate will be considerably more moderate compared to the previous decade. This will be driven by an increasing demand, primarily in the United States, the EU countries and Asian markets (Hong KongChina, Saudi Arabia and Japan).
