Environmental protectionis one of the pillars of sustainable development. Attention in the paperdedicated to the mutual interaction and interdependence of ecotourism and the environment (this issue can be viewed in terms of the impact of ecotourism on the environment, but also in terms of environmental impacts on ecotourism), followed by the importance of investments in preservation and development of a environment, as basic components for the development and promotion of ecotourism. Environment is key to the success of ecotourism. As the evaluation of ecotourism requires the existence of environmental awareness of all participants in the process, both the preservation and development of a environment require starting point for the development and promotion of ecotourism, as well as the motivation of the participants in the ecotourism process. Аnalysis shows that there is a positive trend of growth of investment in environmental protection, which is obviously very desirable in the field of development and promotion of ecotourism.
