Aim of the doctoral thesis is to derive allometric equations in order to characterise the biomass of economically most beneficial tree species and determine the carbon stock in stands in Latvia. Empirical material of the most economically significant species of Latvia − Scots pine (Pinus sylvestris L.), Norway spruce (Picea abies (L.) H. Hot.), birch (Betula pendula Roth and Betula pubescens Ehrh.) and common aspen (Populus tremula L.) for the developmentof surface and root biomass equations and for the calculation of carbon stockpiles in tree biomass were harvested in 124 forest sections between 2010 and 2014. Total empirical material from 372 trees (102 pines, 81 spruces, 105 birches and 84 aspens) was collected for the development of surface biomass equations. The biomass of the entire tree's living and dry branches has been calculated by the natural wet mass of the representative branch samples and the absolute dry mass relationship. The sample density is measured by the weights of the Precisa XB 220A laboratory. The weighted average reduced density of the stem for the pine is 380.5 kg mE-3, for spruce 368.9 kg mE-3 and for birch 481.7 kg mE-3 and for aspen 399.4 kg mE-3. Latvian Forest Resources Monitoring (MRM) accumulates data on the average of individual tree trunks (D) and tree height (H), so these easily measurable tree features are selected as variable values in the study to create easy-to-use and practical equations. Following a major literature analysis, the resulting three mathematical expressions (2.1, 2.2 and 2.3) were selected for the calculation of tree stem biomass (SB), live and dry branch biomass (BB), total surface biomass (AGB) and total strain share and root biomass (BGB). The results of the MRM 2012−2016, including the last two-year measurements of cycle II and the measurements of the first three years of cycle III, have been used to characterise the carbon stockpile of Latvia. The estimated carbon accumulated in the biomass of Latvian forest stand in 2016 is 238.1 ± 3.5 million. Comparing the results of studies carried out in Latvia on the carbon content of pine, fir, birch and grey alder biomass fractions (trunks, branches and roots), it was concluded that it had been between 47.2% and 51.7%. The carbon accumulated in the last decade (2008−2018) has increased by around 8 million tonnes, from 233.1−241.2 million.

letton. Promocijas darba mērķis ir izveidot alometriskos vienādojumus saimnieciski nozīmīgāko koku sugu biomasas raksturošanai un noteikt Latvijas kokaudzēs uzkrāto oglekli. Empīriskais materiāls Latvijas saimnieciski nozīmīgāko koku sugu parastās priedes (Pinus sylvestris L.), parastās egles (Picea abies (L.) H. Karst.), bērzu (Betula pendula Roth un Betula pubescens Ehrh.) un parastās apses (Populus tremula L.) virszemes un sakņu biomasas vienādojumu izstrādei un oglekļa uzkrājumu koka biomasā aprēķiniem ievākts 124 meža nogabalos laikposmā no 2010.–2014. gadam. Kopā virszemes biomasas vienādojumu izstrādei ievākts empīriskais materiāls no 372 kokiem (102 priedēm, 81 eglēm, 105 bērziem un 84 apsēm). Visa koka dzīvo un sauso zaru biomasa aprēķināta pēc raksturojošo zaru paraugu dabiski mitras masas un absolūti sausas masas attiecības. Paraugu blīvums mērīts ar Precisa XB 220A laboratorijas svariem.Vidējais svērtais stumbra reducētais blīvums priedei ir 380.5 kg mE-3, eglei 368.9 kg mE-3 un bērzam 481.7 kg mE-3 un apsei 399.4 kg mE-3. Latvijas meža resursu monitorings (MRM) uzkrāj datus par individuālu koku stumbru caurmēru (D) un koku augstumu (H), tāpēc šīs viegli izmērāmās koka pazīmes pētījumā izvēlētas kā mainīgās vērtības, lai radītu ērti pielietojamus un praktiskus vienādojumus. Pēc apjomīgas literatūras analīzes, galarezultātā izvēlētas trīs matemātiskās izteiksmes (2.1, 2.2 un 2.3) koka stumbra biomasas (SB), dzīvo un sauso zaru biomasas (BB), kopējās virszemes biomasas (AGB) un kopējās celma daļas un sakņu biomasas (BGB) aprēķināšanai. Latvijas kokaudžu oglekļa uzkrājuma raksturošanai izmantoti MRM 2012.–2016. gada rezultāti, ietverot II cikla pēdējos divu gadu uzmērījumus un III cikla pirmo trīs gadu uzmērījumus. Pētījumā aprēķinātais Latvijas kokaudžu biomasā uzkrātais ogleklis 2016. gadā ir 238.1 ± 3.5 milj.t. Salīdzinot Latvijā veikto pētījumu rezultātus par oglekļa saturu priedes, egles, bērza un baltalkšņa biomasas frakcijās (stumbrs, zari un saknes), secināts, ka tas ir bijis robežās no 47.2–51.7%. Latvijas kokaudzēs uzkrātais ogleklis pēdējo desmit gadu (2008-2018) laikā ir palielinājies apmēram par 8 milj. t, no 233.1–241.2 milj.t.
