Korea Program on International Agriculture (KOPIA) is one of the partners of the Philippines in achieving rice self-sufficiency. The program aims to explore opportunities to enhance farm productivity and household income in rural farming communities. The success of the project will give quality and positive outputs and accomplishments which, in the end, will benefit not just the institution, but most especially the farmers. Limited supply of high quality seeds is one of the problems encountered by farmers. Mallig FST Cooperative situated in Mallig, Isabela was selected as beneficiary of the project patterned in the Saemallindog (New Community Movement) of korea following the 3 basic Saemaul spirits: Diligence, Self-help and Cooperation. Six bags of M1, 35 bags of M7 and 200 bags of NSIC Rc352 were given to the cooperative for free in 2016 DS and 2016 WS respectively. The cooperative was able to collect Php 68,700.00 from the members as payment for the seeds. The money collected was given to the cooperative as savings and seed money for loan of members and machineries. Mallig FST cooperative is now establishing a system of money lending to coop members for farm implements.
