The role of agriculture in improving the living standards in Georgia.

As soon as Georgia gained independence, the responsibility for the development of the country’s economy was assumed by the central and regional governments. Today, strengthening the role of the regions in the economic development of the country is essential. The regions play one of the leading roles in the many-step system of the country economy, and the provision of the population with agricultural products is particularly important. In present-day Georgia; the development of agriculture should be prioritized and it should serve as a basis to strengthen economy and equalize the living standards in the country as a result. For this purpose, it is necessary to evaluate the social-economic, scientific, resource and proprietary potential of the regional areas, which is impossible without a thorough study of the branches of material production, infrastructure, people’s living standards and conditions in the territorial units of Georgia, and various analytical approaches must be used for this purpose. A solid function in the agricultural development is assigned to the development of farming. All in all, the qualitatively new ways and methods of management and regulation of the economy and financial potential at the regional level must be emphasized. Unfortunately, in Georgia, there is a certain collision observed between the wishes of the regions to reach social-economic development and the financial potential made available to them. The financial tax policy in the country is organized with a “top-down” principle. The current head for the social-economic development of Georgia implies the distribution of the managerial functions among regional formations. Farming (household production) is one of the most important five institutional sectors of economy. Further development of farming may contribute much to the cooperation of the individual branches of farming and improvement of the people’s living standards.
