Evolutionary breeding method by creating composite cross populations (CCP) can increase resilience against environmental variation. During 2019/2020, 10 parental winter wheat cultivars selected as parents for creation of winter wheat CCP were evaluated for grain yield and its quality in the field trial of organic farming established at the Stende Research Centre of Institute of Agroresources and Economics. Also, four heterogeneous populations from abroad were evaluated in the same conditions. The results showed that the highest grain yield was provided by the variety ‘Brencis’ and Danish CCP ‘Popkorn’ (greater than 4.50 t haE−1). The highest grain quality (protein and gluten content, and Zeleny index) was provided by CCP ‘MV Elit’ from Hungary.
