Change of the protein and phycobiliprotein content under the conditions of germanium (IV) accumulation in the biomass of cyanobacteria Spirulina platensis growing on a medium with germanium - containing compounds

The changes of the protein and phycobiliprotein content under the conditions of germanium (IV) accumulation in the biomass of cyanobacteria Spirulina platensis growing on an medium with germanium - containing compounds were studied. It was established that under the conditions of accumulation of germanium by the cyanobacteria Spirulina platensis cultivated in the presence of inorganic and organic compounds of this element, the protein content in the biomass presented levels (with small variations) within the limits of control. The organic compounds Mes2Ge(F)-PHMes, ArP=C(PhCH=CHCHO)Ge(Tip)t-Bu and Mes2GeCl2 at a concnetration of 10 mg/l contribute to the increas of the content of proteins in spirulina biomass by 13,0-15,0%. For phycobiliproteins, an increase of their content in the biomass is characteristic. The highest phycobiliprotein content, of 25,5-36,2% was found in the case of the compound ArP=C(Te)Ge(Tip)t-Bu, as well as in the presence of concentrations of 30 mg/l GeO2 and 10 mg/l GeSe2. 21 references, 2 figures.
