Initially research was concentrated on those particular pest problems which were of immediate concern at the ICRISAT Center. Simultaneously, information was collected on themost important pest problems of the crop in the Semi-Arid Tropics (SAT). This paper briefly reviews the progress made since groundnut pest research started at ICRISAT in late 1977
