Afficher plus [+] Moins [-]This paper focuses briefly on the process of planting zone map preparation and its uses to benefit the small landholders in Nepal. The paper builds on an earlier paper by Jens-Peter B. Lilleso et al (2001). The objective of the paper is to suggest that planting zones could contribute significantly in production gains and conservation of gene resources 'in-situ' of very important multipurpose trr species which would otherwise be lost. Paper also provides overview on how complex ecosystems could be best used taking into considerations of climatic and elevational information together with the existing indigenous knowledge in bettering the use of available local tree resources for improving livelihood
