During their growth, mushrooms can accumulate macro elements and heavy metals from the soil, which can enter the human body through the diet. Therefore it is very important to determine the safety of their application. The content of heavy metals in Lactarius deliciosus, Lactarius sanquifluus and Lactarius semisanquifluus mushrooms were determined by inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectrometry. Also, the content of heavy metals in the soil from which the mushrooms were collected was determined. Based on the results, bioaccumulation factor and translocation factor were calculated. The obtained results should indicate the possibility of a safe use of analysed mushrooms from Serbia in the human diet.
