Investigation of the effectiveness of different weed control methods used for potato (solanum tuberosum l.) cultivation in Kayseri Province, Turkey
2017
Güven, O.
Potato is the fourth most common foodstuff in the world after wheat, rice and corn and is grown in almost all countries. According to 2015 data in Kayseri province, potato production area is 77.007 da, production is 287.835 tons. Weeds are one of the most important factors affecting yield and quality in potato productions. Appropriate weed control methods must also be established and implemented to increase the effectiveness of the weed control and to make necessary interventions on time. This study was conducted in Melikgazi District which have important potato production areas in Kayseri. Effectiveness of different weed control methods in potato growing (Marabel cv) were investigated. In the experiment alone and combinations of herbicides, 1 and 2 tractor hoeing were used in combination with metribuzin (Sencor SC 600), pendimethalin (Herbimat 330 EC), linuron (Aries), fluazifop-P-butyl (Fusilade Forte) herbicides and weedy plots also were created. As a result of the studies, it was determined that the most effective application against weeds in potato cultivation was the application of pendimethalin + metribuzin + fluazifop-P-butyl. The highest yields obtained from the pendimethalin + metribuzin + fluazifop-P-butyl application with 3957.46 kg/da and the lowest yield was obtained from weedy control at 2294.50 kg/da. Similarly, the highest net income was obtained from pendimethalin + metribuzin + fluazifop-p-butyl plot with the 1603.09 TL / da in parallel with the highest yield.
