Aspects of Georgian nuts competitiveness.

The article describes competitiveness of Georgian hazelnuts and its diverse aspects. It determines the position of Georgian hazelnut in the world market; demonstrates the farmers’ mistaken attitude of farming hazelnuts and highlights the relevant fields that need to be developed in order to gain competitive advantage and increase the export of Georgian hazelnuts. It analyzes the statistics data concerning hazelnut export dynamics from 2009 till 2016 based on the data of National Statistics Office of Georgia. In addition, based on the factual data, it claims that the quality and quantity play very crucial role in determining the price of hazelnuts on the global market. The need for meeting strict European market standards and the Government’s support to sustainable development of the sector are outlined.
