A field experiment was conducted during the rabi seasons of 2001-2002 and 2002-2003 at Imphal to evaluate the effect of phosphorus and organic manure on rapeseed. The highest seed yield, oil content and oil yield was associated with the application of phosphorus at 60 kg P2O5/ha. Addition of organic manure irrespect of the sources showed higher seed yield as well as oil yield over control. Among the sources of organic manure application of poultry manures at 5t/ha indicated the highest yield of seed and oil. Significantly higher uptake of phosphorus both in seed and stover were recorded with the application of 60 kg P2O5/ha and poultry manure. Residual available phosphorus in soil was benefited by the application of 60 kg P2O5/ha. Addition of poultry manure also enhanced the post harvest available nitrogen and phosphorus in soil.
