“Codrul Secular Loben” forest reserve is one of the newest protected areas in Suceava County, being located within the village of Raşca, Moldovița commune. This was declared a protected area by Government Decision no. 1143 of September 18, 2007. Here are found forest ecosystems and practices representative of the northern part of the Eastern Carpathians. The mountain mixtures of beech, fir and spruce together with spruces are the predominant forest types. Due to the presence of Loben and Timotei streams, meadows with grassy vegetation, limestone cliffs but also due to the mosaic character of the trees, the plant richness is high compared to the surface of the reserve (483 ha), being present here species with ecological requirements. Thus, following field research conducted during 2016-2018, 372 species of vascular plants were identified in 226 genera belonging to 69 families.
