The beneficial organisms'(BM) effectiveness under commercial tropical hog farming condition was investigated. The first phase of the study aimed at evaluating the immediate effects of BM on litter size, birth weight, weaning weight at 21, adjusted weight at 30 days and pre-weaning mortality rate. Moreover, it also evaluated the weight loss of sow during lactation. The experiment involved 18 gestating sows for the Control composed of 9 Large White (LW) and 9 Landrace (LR). Equal number of gestating sows and the same bloodline distribution was also used in the group treated with EM. There were 18 replicates per treatment at one sow per replicate. A factorial in Completely Randomized Design was used with treatment and breed as factors. The performance enhancer was added in the drinking for gestating sow starting at 10 days before farrowing up to weaning time at 21 days. The result of the study which aimed to determine the effect of EM on the body condition of the sow during the gestation and lactation period showed that there was no adverse effect on their body weight performance. Moreover, litter size was comparable to the control and feed intake of suckling at different growth periods was unaffected. Breed difference however was noted but there was no interaction effect between breed and treatment.
