White rice husk ash (WRHA) filled polypropylene (PP)/ethylene propylene diene terpolymer (EPDM) blends were prepared using an internal mixer by simultaneous blending and dynamic vulcanisation. The effect of filler loading and vulcanisation on mixing rheology and mechanical properties was investigated. For comparison, unvulcanised WRHA filled PP/EPDM blends were also prepared. The rheological behaviour of blends, indicated by the Brabender plasticorder torque was neither influenced by the filler loading nor dynamic vulcanisation significantly. The mechanical properties such as tensile strength, elongation at break, Young`s modulus and flexural modulus of the blends were significantly improved by dynamic vulcanisation. The chemical crosslinking of EPDM accounts for the improved properties. Increasing WRHA loading in the blends resulted in increase of tensile modulus and flexural modulus and decrease of tensile strength and elongation at break.
