Phase normalisation for accurate pyroelectric technique

The theory of thermal wave interferometry in photoacoustic signal generation has been adopted to one-dimensional model of standard photopyroelectric configuration to measure thermal diffusivity of solid samples. Reflection of thermal wave in the pyroelectric coatings, which was ignored in previous models, was considered. Secondly, a normalisation procedure has been used to eliminate the number of media parameters of photopyroelectric cell that otherwise need to be known before one can determine the thermal diffusivity of the sample. The method was experimentally tested for aluminium and copper, and the values obtained were close to the literature values.
