California jack mackerel (Trachurus symmetricus) - perspective species at high sea fisheries

Geographic range, stock assessments, patterns for seasonal and daily migrations, behavior, conditions for origin of fishery aggregations of the Jack mackerel are given based on expedition data collected during 1978-1991 and on data from the literature. Search technique using satellite data on sea surface temperature has been developed to track down aggregations of the mackerel. The method was tested on large trawlers TURNIF during 1980-1991. Jack mackerel is suggested as a potential commercial fish for Russian fishermen
