Insulin resistance is a state of the organism represented with reduced tissue sensitivity tocirculating insulin and disturbed glucose homeostasis caused by reduced tissue sensitivity toinsulin. Insulin resistance and tissue sensitivity can be evaluated with hyperinsulinaemiceugycaemic clamp, orag and intravenous glucose tolerance tests and indices of insulinresistance: HOMA-IR, QUICKI, HOMA-β. Literature does not contain data about insulinindices values in euglycaemic dogs. The aim of this study was to determine values of glucose, insulin, HOMA-IR, HOMA-β, QUICKI, GLU:INS ratio and their referent values. 34 dogs ofnormal body condition age 3-7 years were enrolled in this study. Following values werefounded (in 95% confidence interval): insulin 10,8-20,1 μU/mL; glucose 4,73-5,55 mmol/L;GLU:INS 0,39-0,85; HOMA-IR 2,51-4,93; HOMA-β 108-228; QUICKI 0,32-0,36. Frequencies of distributions haven’t showed normal distribution. Insulin indexes indicesshowed stronger correlation with insulin values than with glucose values. Risk of diabetesdevelopment can be evaluated by concentrations of insulin and glucose.
