Effect of tillage methods on the formation of sunflower root system in the conditions of the Central Ciscaucasia | Влияние способов обработки почвы на формирование корневой системы подсолнечника в условиях Центрального Предкавказья

Интенсивность развития корневых систем растений в период вегетации является индикатором, характеризующим агрофизические условия в корнеобитаемом слое почвы, складывающиеся в процессе её основной обработки. Приводятся результаты исследований, проведённых в пропашном звене севооборота (озимая пшеница – подсолнечник) на чернозёме южном в юго-восточной зоне Центрального Предкавказья. Цель исследований - установление зависимости развития корневой системы подсолнечника при традиционной и минимальной обработке почвы с использованием элементов технологии Strip-till, создающих определённые агрофизические условия, характеризующиеся плотностью сложения и запасом продуктивной влаги в корнеобитаемом слое. В процессе исследований использовали метод размерностей и подобия, а также метод фрактальной геометрии применительно к конкретным разветвлённым корневым системам. Установлена прямая квадратичная зависимость развития корневой системы от запаса продуктивной влаги и обратная зависимость от плотности почвы в корнеобитаемом слое с учётом корректирующего коэффициента С, связанного с типом почвы. Выявлено, что при использовании технологии Strip-till плотность почвы в весенний период на 0,06 г/см3 меньше, а запас продуктивной влаги на 12 мм больше, чем при традиционной технологии. Соответственно средняя величина показателя фрактальной размерности Dr степени развития корневой системы в плане занятия объёмного пространства, равная 1,62, выше, чем при традиционной обработке (Dr = 1,51). В определённой степени этот показатель характеризует лучшие агрофизические условия, создаваемые в корнеобитаемом слое почвы при технологии Strip-till, которые способствовали повышению урожайности подсолнечника: превышение в сравнении с традиционной вспашкой составляет 0,23 т/га при более низких производственных затратах на 10%.

The intensity of development of plant root systems during the vegetation season is an indicator, which characterizes the agrophysical conditions in the root habitable soil layer that develop in the process of its primary cultivation. Presented are the results of research performed in the tilled crop rotation link (winter wheat – sunflower) in southern chernozem in the South-Eastern zone of the Central Ciscaucasia. The objective of research is to establish a relationship between the development of sunflower root systems under conventional and minimum tillage using the elements of Strip-till technology that create certain agrophysical conditions characterized by the density of compaction and supply of productive moisture in the root habitable layer. In the course of research the authors used the method of dimensions and similarity, as well as the method of fractal geometry in relation to specific branched root systems. A direct quadratic dependence was established between the development of the root system and the supply of productive moisture, while an inverse dependence was observed between the soil density in the root habitable layer with reference of C correction coefficient associated with soil type. It is revealed that when Strip-till technology is used, the soil density in spring is 0.06 g/cm3 less, and the productive moisture reserve is 12 mm more compared to the conventional technology. Accordingly, the average value of Dr fractal dimension indicator of the degree of development of root systems in terms of occupying a volumetric space is equal to 1.62, which is higher compared to the conventional tillage (Dr = 1.51). To a certain extent this indicator characterizes the best agrophysical conditions, which were created in the root habitable soil layer with the Strip-till technology and contributed to an increase in sunflower yield: the excess was 0.23 t/ha compared to conventional plowing with production costs being lower by 10%.
