Investigation on tomato virüs diseases of virüs in tomato growing areas in the Marmara region of Turkey

Tomato (Lycopersicum esculantum Mill) production has the first place among the vegetables, grown in the World as well as in Turkey. Especially as a row material tomato production for the food industry, Marmara Region of Turkey is the most important part of the country. But recently some sistemic virus infections have caused significant damages on leaves and fruits reducing yield and quality drastically. In order to observe virus infections and determine those viruses, survey visits were implemented at 3 tomato grower districts of Bursa and Yalova provinces in Marmara Region during the year of 2014. At the end of the surveys at least 94 tomato leaf samples were collected from the tomato plants exhibiting chlorosis, necrosis, mosaic. By employing Double Antibody Sandwich Enzyme-linked Immunosorbent Assay (DAS-ELISA) tests Tomato spotted wilt virus (TSWV), Cucumber mosaic virus (CMV) and Tomato mosaic virus (ToMV) viruses were searched in leaf samples. As a results of DAS-ELISA tests 19 out of 94 at the rate of 20.21 % tomato leaf samples were found infected with CMV, 21 of 94 samples at the rate of 22.34 % had ToMV and 2 out of the tomato leaf samples at the rate of 2.13 % were found infected with TSWV individually. As a mixed infections 19 out of 94 samples at the rate of 14.89 % had both CMV+ToMV, 4 of 94 samples at the rate of 4.26 % were found infected with CMV+TSWV, only 1 sample at the rate of 1.06 % had ToMV+TSWV as 4 out of 94 samples at the rate of 4.26 % were found infected with the mixture of CMV+ToMV+TSWV viruses.
