2014
Sahin, M.
This study was conducted to evaluate the effects of pre-harvest Gibberellin and Benzyladenine (BA) application on quality of '0900 Ziraat' cherry (Prunus avium L.) and 'Alyanak' apricot (Prunus armeniaca L.). Fruits were evaluated right after harvest in terms of size, fruit weight, firmness, pedicel length, pH, titretable acidity and soluble solids content (SSC) quality. The effects of applied plant growth regulators (PGRs) on fruit size, fruit firmness and pedicel length were significant in '0900 Ziraat'. Fruit treated with 50 ppm BA + GA4+7 had significantly higher fruit size than the control. The highest fruit firmness was obtained from 25 ppm GA3 applications. The highest pedicel length was obtained from 100 ppm BA applications. There were no significant differences among the treatments with regard to fruit weight and pH.The effects of applied BA and BA + GA4+7 on fruit weight, fruit size and firmness were significant in 'Alyanak'. The highest fruit weight was obtained from 150 ppm BA applications. The highest fruit size was obtained from 100 ppm BA applications. The highest firmness was obtained from 25 ppm BA+GA4+7 applications. There were no significant differences among the treatments with regard to fruit SSC, pH and acidity.
