Effect of growth regulators on the germination and plant growth of some wheat varieties under saline conditions

In this study, 4 different types of bread wheat (Gerek-79, Gun-91, Altay-2000 and Besoztaja) were usedas experimental material, and the experiment is performed for determining the effects of seed pre-treatments and for investigating the reducing effects of salt (NaCl) stress of the seed pre-treatments performed before inoculation on germination of the plants and seedling development by using 4 different chemicals (900 µM gibberellic acid (GA3), 100 µM kinetin (KIN), 100 ppm Salicylic acid, 100 ppm Ascorbic acid).In the first part of the study which is consisting of two parts, the seeds to which seed pre-treatments is applied for 24 hours under room temperature, the seeds are filtered and dried under room temperature. The dried seeds are placed in 10 cm Petri dishes which include different concentrations of salt solutions [control (pure water), EC value 0.30, 0.35, 0.40, 0.45 mM NaCl] and each Petri dish will include ten seeds and the seeds are waited at on a drying oven under constant temperature (20 ºC) in the dark and the germination and output performances of the seeds are determined. In the second part, soil is prepared and dried for the pre-treatments seeds and then this soil is placed in flowerpots and 4 different salty (NaCl) solutions with EC value of 94, 164 and 240 mM and control (tap water) are sprayed on each of the flowerpots and after the soil is dried again, 10 pre-applied seeds are planted in every flowerpot. The plants are harvested after 30 days and their measurements and evaluations are performed. The results have increased the seed pre-treatments, prolin, germination ratio, seedling length, root length, the wet and dry weight of the plant and have significantly mitigated the negative effect on the plant in all the salt levels. Especially 100 ppm salicylic acid in 240 mM salt concentration prolin level 3.63 (?M/g) and 100 µM kinetin prolin level 3.67 (?M/g) were found but wihout seed pre treatment in 240 mM Nacl prolin level 1.67 (?M/g) was found. These results were indicated that SA and kinetin have positive effects on plant growth in salinity and non salinity conditions.
