Stimulation of branching by various inducing methods is getting a standard treatment in fruit nurseries. It increases the price and use of young planting material grown as one year old maiden tree or two year old knip tree. Chemical and mechanical methods of branching induction on two pear varieties were tested in experimental nursery in 2017. Cytokinin benzyladenine (BA) was used and combined in some treatments with gibberellins (GA4/7). Leaf pinching was used as mechanical method alone or in combination with phytohormone applications. Number of side shoots longer than 30 cm was used as a main indicator of method effectiveness. Very low branching was recorded on maiden ´Dicolor´ trees. The extension of growing process by knip tree led to branching increase. Branching of ´Bohemica´ trees was much better even as one year old maiden tree, and all the treatments including leaf pinching as well as treatment combining separate application of BA and (GA4/7) increased number of shoots >30cm. The extension of growing process by knip led to increase in branching of ´Bohemica´ but there was not recorded any difference between the treatments in anyparameter.
