The aim of the study was to determine the effect of enniatin B in levels corresponding to aute exposure for ruminants and its double on ruminal digestibility of organic matter of bulky type of total mixed ratio using an in vitro rumen fluid buffer system. Enniatin B was dissolved in methanol (100 μg/ml) and then diluted with distilled water to concentrations of 10 and 20 μg/ml. The rumen fluid was taken from a lactating cow fed a diet based on maize (22 kg) and lucerne (12 kg) silages, hay (3 kg), straw (1.5 kg) and a supplemental mixture (6.7 kg, all on as fed basis). The same feedstuffs were used for incubations only the ratio of forage:concentrate was adjusted to 60:40. Samples of studied feedstuffs (0.5 g/tube) were incubated in five replications with buffered rumen fluid (40 ml) at 39 °C for 24.0 h. The treatments were as follows: C - control, C+ - control + methanol, E10 - control + enniatin B 10 μg/ml and E20 - control + enniatin B 20 μg/ml. After incubation the solution was centrifuged, supernatants were analysed on volatile fatty acids content, residues were analysed on dry matter and ash content and organic matter digestibility (OMD) was calculated. The OMD ranged from 35.77 (E20) to 40.53 % (E10). There was no difference between C and C+ group (38.13 and 36.84 % resp.) suggesting that methanol as a solvent had no effect on viability of rumen microflora. OMD in E10 was higher than in C. Further studies are needed to clarify the effect of minor mycotoxins on rumen digestibility of nutrients.
