The article substantiates what the forecasting process is in the land management system, outlines the idea that forecasting has two branches - retrospective forecasting and long-term planning. It has been substantiated that planning is the process of choosing the optimal yield plan according to the selected criteria of their set of possible ones, the pros and cons of using linear programming methods to optimize the structure of sown areas are outlined.
