Mennesker har alltid vært avhengig av naturen. De tjenestene som naturen gir oss, kommer fra både store og små økosystemer verden over. Med dette som grunnlag ønsker jeg i denne oppgaven å undersøke hvordan landskapsarkitekten kan tilrettelegge for økosystemtjenester i urbane områder. For å svare på dette inneholder oppgaven en prosjekteringsdel der jeg ser på hvordan forplassen til Vinslottet som ligger i Oslo, kan utformes med fokus på urban dyrking, og samtidig ivareta flere økosystemtjenester. Gjennom bruk av stedsanalyser, slik som befaring, solforhold, gang- og vegetasjonsanalyse, tilegner landskapsarkitekten nyttig informasjon som virker inn i prosjekteringen. Dette må komplementeres med kunnskap om økosystemtjenester, kreativitet og utførelse. Kommunikasjon og tverrfaglig samarbeid er essensielt. Gjennom utforming av utearealer innehar landskapsarkitekten muligheter for å synliggjøre og ivareta økosystemtjenester. Mulighetene styrkes ved at landskapsarkitekten inkluderes på rett tid i planprosesser og kan medvirke til valg som ivaretar økosystemtjenester. Ved at landskapsarkitekten fokuserer på urban dyrking vil dette kunne bidra til å skape innbydende oppholdsrom i urbane strøk, ivareta flere økosystemtjenester, og på sikt støtte opp under alle de tre dimensjonene av en bærekraftig utvikling.

anglais. Population growth, billions of people to be fed, loss of biodiversity and climate change present challenges that the world faces. These must be resolved globally, nationally, and locally. Humans have always been dependent on nature. The services provided by nature come from both large and small ecosystems around the world. With this as a basis, I want in this thesis to research how the landscape architect can facilitate ecosystem services in urban areas. To answer this, the thesis contains a design part where I look at how the forecourt of Vinslottet in Oslo, can be designed with a focus on urban gardening, and at the same time conserve several ecosystem services. Through the use of site analyses, such as inspection, solar conditions, gait and veg-etation analysis, the landscape architect acquires useful information that affects the design of the project. This must be complemented by knowledge of ecosystem services, creativity, and execution. Communication and interdisciplinary collaboration are essential. Through the design of outdoor areas, the landscape architect has opportunities to highlight and maintain ecosystem services. The opportunities are strengthened by the landscape architect being included at the right time in planning processes and can contribute to decisions that support ecosystem services. By focusing on urban gardening, the landscape architect can contribute to creating inviting living spaces in urban areas, safeguard more ecosystem services, and in the long run support all three dimensions of sustainable development.
