The article examines the ecological situation in the Russian Federation on the basis of fund and literary materials. The emphasis is on the current state of the environment and current environmental issues. Throughout the history of its existence, man has actively invaded the natural processes occurring in nature. This invasion was especially active in the XX-th century. Every hour, a person extracts tons of minerals, removes hectares of forest from the face of the earth, pollutes water and air. As a result of this impact, the ecological situation in many areas of the earth, including Russia, cannot be considered favorable.
