About 200 million buffaloes are raised in the world today. Taking into consideration an overall milk production in the world, buffalo milk ranks second in its significance (after bovine milk) having the share of about 13%. This record shows a huge importance of raising buffaloes and that it is also very important to know their production characteristics. Buffaloes raised in our country belong to a Mediterranean buffalo while depending on the country which they are raised in and on the breed they belong to buffaloes have different morphological and production traits. The object of our study were the animals raised in the region of Pester, namely, in the municipalities of Novi Pazar, Sjenica and Tutin. For the purpose of this research paper following morphometric measures were taken in domestic buffaloes: height of withers, height of loins, body length, circumference of chest and circumference of shin bone. Milk quality of domestic buffalo was analyzed for the following parameters: acidity per oSH (Soxhlet-Henkel), water content, dry matter content, milk fat content, lactose content and protein content. Parameters of descriptive statistics were calculated for these traits. The study of the effect of the age of animal on morphometrical traits and study of the effect of period of lactation on buffalo cow milk composition was performed by help of ANOVA test (univariate method).
