In recent decades, the livestock production has been increasingly chanenged with the intensity of this production. Along with that, there was an increase in the incidence of metabolic and consequently reproductive health disorders of the high production breeds of domestic animals. For example, reproductive health disorders mainly occur in high yielding dairy cows, far less often in indigenous breeds that have extremely negative energy balance (NEB) at the beginning of lactation, and are reflected primarily in functional disorders of the ovary and subclinical and clinical endometritis. Bad fertility parameters in cows in intensive production are often closely correlated with problems like anoestrus, anovulation and cystic degeneration of the ovaries. Ultrasound examination of the ovaries and uterus contributes to a better understanding and solving these problems. In addition to the use of ultrasound devices in the diagnosis of pathological changes in the reproductive organs, they can be used in order to monitor the effects of treatment (response to treatment), as well as monitoring and diagnosis of physiological conditions (pregnancy, ovarial activity) of reproductive tracte. This workshop will present the most common forms of functional disorders of the ovary and uterus, as well as methods of treatment of this disorders in cows, sheep and goats. Besides this, possibilities of diagnostics of certain physiological conditions (pregnancy, sex determination etc.) will be discussed as well.
