Infestação de Leptopharsa heveae Drake & Poor (Hemiptera: Tingidae) em oito clones de seringueira em Iquitira, MT.

Dentre os insetos-praga associados à seringueira no Brasil, o tingídeo Leptopharsa heveae Drake & Poor (Hemiptera: Tingidae) se destaca como uma das mais importantes, especialmente nas regiões Centro-Oeste e Sudeste do Brasil. Adultos e ninfas sugam a seiva nas folhas das plantas infestadas e, dependendo do nível populacional da praga, podem ocasionar perdas de até 30% na produção de látex. Este estudo objetivou verificar a infestação de ninfas e adultos de L. heveae, em oito clones de seringueiras (GT1, PB 235, PB 217, RRIM 600, RRIM 527, PR 228, PR 255 e IAN 873), no município de Itiquira, MT. No período de julho de 2003 a dezembro de 2005, semanalmente eram vistoriadas três folhas maduras, no terço inferior da copa de quatro árvores por clone, contabilizando o número de ninfas e adultos nas mesmas. Pelos resultados obtidos neste estudo conclui-se que: 1. Há diferenças no ataque de ninfas e adultos de L. heveae nos diferentes clones e entre os anos; 2. Os clones e PR 228 e PB 235 são os mais suscetíveis ao ataque de L. heveae nas condições edafoclimáticas da região, quando comparados aos demais; 3. O nível populacional de ninfas e adultos de L. heveae atinge seus picos entre os meses de setembro a outubro. Among the insect-pests associated with rubber trees in Brazil, the tingid Leptopharsa heveae Drake & Poor (Hemiptera: Tingidae) stands out as one of the most important, especially in the Center-West and Southeast regions of Brazil. Adults and nymphs suck the sap from the leaves of infested plants and, depending on the pest population level, can cause losses of up to 30% in latex production. This study aimed to verify the infestation of nymphs and adults of L. heveae, in eight rubber trees clones (GT1, PB 235, PB 217, RRIM 600, RRIM 527, PR 228, PR 255, and IAN 873), in the municipality of Itiquira, Mato Grosso state, Brazil. From July 2003 to December 2005, three mature leaves were inspected weekly, in the lower third of the canopy of four trees per clone, counting the number of nymphs and adults in them. From the results obtained in this study, it can be concluded that: 1. There are differences in the attack of nymphs and adults of L. heveae in different clones and between years; 2. The clones PR 228 and PB 235 are the most susceptible to the attack of L. heveae in the edaphoclimatic conditions of the region, when compared to the others; 3. The population level of nymphs and adults of L. heveae reaches its peak between the months of September to October.
